Dinner @ Jonker

We were back to Jonker this evening - so many people that we had to push our way through the throng. We had dinner at Kocik that offered better service and taste than its better known neighbors like Nancy's Kitchen and Restoran Peranakan. So much so that we advised those who can't wait at the long queue at Nancy to give Kocik a try instead. At least 2 big Singaporean groups heeded our advice.

Brother Isaac and myself enjoyed making our own candy floss. And we loved it!
And we also had the best One Bite Durian Puff ever,
And the stage performance

Lunch #2 @ Jonker Street

We enjoyed more good Melaka food @ Jonker for lunch today. First, we turned left right after crossing the Melaka river and headed straight to "East & West Rendezvous" for its fame Nyonya dumplings and Chendol, which indeed lived up to its name.

Next, we went diagonally across the street for traditional Kaya Toast @ Lung Ann Refreshment Kopitiam. I would say the toast was probably the best that we ever had - much better than the "Ya Kun" alike in Singapore. We also saw its fame satay stall. But alas, we were there an hour early, so  we didn't manage to taste it. We were told that the satay stall is only opened between 2pm - 4pm daily  (fancy satay for lunch?).

We turned back along the same street to "Calanthe Art Cafe" where we had the best bowl of Laksa ever. The only regret was being too full for another bowl.

For we missed the satay earlier, we then made do with the satay beside this cafe. The satay was just mediocre. We then returned to Holiday Inn hotel for rest before venturing back in the evening.

Perankan Lunch @ Jonker Street Melaka

Just had lunch today @ Restoran Perankan - one of the better known & estalished Nyonya Restaurants in Jonker street, Melaka. Price is a little on high side yet the food and services were so-so (quite oily). The Kocik Kitchen (just opposite) offered better value, service and taste!

Before lunch, mom bought quite a lot of local tidbits from this shop just round the corner. It was the shopkeepers who recommended us here for lunch (probably we had different taste as local - just like Melaka vs Singapore Chicken Rice).
