Dinner @ Jonker

We were back to Jonker this evening - so many people that we had to push our way through the throng. We had dinner at Kocik that offered better service and taste than its better known neighbors like Nancy's Kitchen and Restoran Peranakan. So much so that we advised those who can't wait at the long queue at Nancy to give Kocik a try instead. At least 2 big Singaporean groups heeded our advice.

Brother Isaac and myself enjoyed making our own candy floss. And we loved it!
And we also had the best One Bite Durian Puff ever,
And the stage performance

Lunch #2 @ Jonker Street

We enjoyed more good Melaka food @ Jonker for lunch today. First, we turned left right after crossing the Melaka river and headed straight to "East & West Rendezvous" for its fame Nyonya dumplings and Chendol, which indeed lived up to its name.

Next, we went diagonally across the street for traditional Kaya Toast @ Lung Ann Refreshment Kopitiam. I would say the toast was probably the best that we ever had - much better than the "Ya Kun" alike in Singapore. We also saw its fame satay stall. But alas, we were there an hour early, so  we didn't manage to taste it. We were told that the satay stall is only opened between 2pm - 4pm daily  (fancy satay for lunch?).

We turned back along the same street to "Calanthe Art Cafe" where we had the best bowl of Laksa ever. The only regret was being too full for another bowl.

For we missed the satay earlier, we then made do with the satay beside this cafe. The satay was just mediocre. We then returned to Holiday Inn hotel for rest before venturing back in the evening.

Perankan Lunch @ Jonker Street Melaka

Just had lunch today @ Restoran Perankan - one of the better known & estalished Nyonya Restaurants in Jonker street, Melaka. Price is a little on high side yet the food and services were so-so (quite oily). The Kocik Kitchen (just opposite) offered better value, service and taste!

Before lunch, mom bought quite a lot of local tidbits from this shop just round the corner. It was the shopkeepers who recommended us here for lunch (probably we had different taste as local - just like Melaka vs Singapore Chicken Rice).

Back from Legoland Malaysia

We are back home from Malaysia after having an enjoyous and fun 3D2N stay @ Legoland. The weather was mostly hot and sunny with occasional late afternoon showers. Mum loved watching the Lego 4D movies, Isaac loved the escalating tower that overlooked the entire theme park and I loved the water park. I had so much fun riding the bubble floats and water sliding that I kept coming back for more.

Driving Direction from Tuas checkpoint (Singapore) to Legoland Malaysia

After clearing both customs on the 2nd link, you're expected to pay a toll fee using Touch n Go card. If you do not have a card (or insufficient value), stick to the left most lane to buy one (or top-up). After which, going to Legoland is a breeze and you're just have to follow the Legoland signage in brown throughout the journey. Even if you couldn't see the word from far, you'll just have to follow the brown signage. But take note of two confusing signs:
  • Just before you see this LEGOLAND exit below, there is another exit 312 that leads to Gelang Patah (do not take that exit).

  • As you drive nearer, there are a few round-abouts along the way. One of these did not indicate LEGOLAND. Instead, follow the label "Puteri Harbour" that leads to both LEGOLAND and Hello Kitty Town.

Driving Direction back Home

Unfortunately, the driving direction back home is not as friendly. Dad asked the hotel staff for direction and was told to follow the signage back to Singapore. Going back, there isn't any Singapore or Singapura signage at all. We even had a slight detour to a village named "Gelang Patah", only then we realise that we have to follow the Tuas signage.

And now the Fun and Memorable Photos
